about

What does a composer with depression and a compromised immune system do during a worldwide pandemic, he writes music. This is my best work from the days of lockdown. Some of it is introspective and some is outwardly hopeful, enjoy.
1; The Inescapable Past
At the beginning of the pandemic lockdown I suddenly had nothing to do but ruminate. In an effort to work past this I focused my energies on music.
2; Letting Go
Radical acceptance is one of the many strategies I use to keep my depression under control. One of my ongoing struggles is my constant rumination of past mistakes and embarrassments. Letting go is difficult, but it helps keep my mood more stable.
3; City at Night
Back in the 70’s, I delivered newspapers in the early morning dark on a bike. This was when I first fell in love with the city at night.
4; Don’t Let the Waterfalls Die
Humans have been leavings scars on our planet for over 10,000 years. Most of those scars are benign, but others are open wounds. If I cut my finger, a bandage and a few days and I’m over it, but if I receive thousands of cuts I probably will not make it. It’s the same with the Earth. We all need to think about it.
5; Autumn Colors
Autumn is my favorite time of year. I hate the heat of summer, when autumn arrives it brings me joy and hope.
6; Beauty Through the Passing Years
True beauty does not fade with time, it is enriched by experience. I met my wife, Aileen, over 30 years ago. She was the most beautiful girl I had ever dated. Over the years we have grown closer through all the ups and downs of life and I have watched her beauty evolve and enrich. She gave me a kidney without a second thought. I watched her face cancer like a true hero, not because she was fearless, but in spite of her fear. With all that we have been through, she is more beautiful now than ever before.
